Ninety Percent

At the Central Library, 90% of the demolition to the interior of the building is complete.  That means in a few months construction will begin!

Bare Bones

With the interior of the Central Library reduced to the concrete floors and columns, you can see the strength required to support the weight of many books.  The photo is taken from the third floor looking down to the second floor where the grand staircase was located.

Bricks and Mortar

Piles of bricks and mortar continue to accumulate as interior walls are removed from the Central Library.  The Children's Garden will be located on the west side of the renovated library, shown in the photo.

Media Reports Progress

Library CEO, Gary Shaffer recently conducted a tour of the Central Library for television, radio, and print publications.

Auditorium to Remain a Tribute to Alfred E. Aaronson

Central Library's Aaronson Auditorium, shown in this photo during demolition, will be redesigned and continue to honor the legacy of Alfred E. Aaronson who led the campaign in the early 1960's to form what is now the Tulsa City-County Library.
