It's Constitution Day!
On September 17, 1787 the Constitution was signed in Philadelphia by members of the Constitutional Convention. 2012 marks the 225th anniversary of the document that frames our federal government.
Here are a few facts and resources to help you celebrate the U.S. Constitution:
- The U.S. Constitution has 4,400 words. It is the oldest and shortest written constitution of any world government.

- The oldest person to sign the Constitution was Benjamin Franklin. Because of poor health he required help to sign. As he did, tears were streaming down his face.

- James Madison is called the "Father of the Constitution," but Gouvernor Morris was responsible for the wording. Gov. Morris penned the Preamble to the Constitution.

Constitution Day
This day should be celebrated more than it is presently. The Constitution is what made thirteen colonies into The United States of America.
