Beginning at 9:15 p.m. on Wed., May 4, the catalog and services requiring your library card to log in will be unavailable overnight during maintenance.
The library has online access to Consumer Reports, a magazine that specializes in product testing and comparisons to help buyers make the most of their money. In order to search the magazine's contents, first go to the library's home page and do a title search for 'Consumer Reports Online', then click on the top result by the same name. On the left side of the page, you should see three separate entries under the heading 'Electronic Resource'. Select MasterFILE Premier, as it includes the most current issues. If you are accessing the magazine from home, you will then need to enter your library card number to proceed.
Once you've accessed the database, you'll see a list of dates on the right side of the page. To search the contents of a particular issue, just click on the year and select which issue you'd like to browse. If you are looking for articles on a specific topic, such as cameras, click on 'Search within this publication' above the list of years. Then, at the top of the next page, go to the first blank search field (underneath the 'JN Consumer Reports'), type in the product you want to research, and hit Search for a list of relevant articles. If you are looking for cameras, you'll see that Consumer Reports published an article in their Dec 2012 issue on digital cameras.
