It's June 14, which means it's flag day.
Though not a federal holiday, President Woodrow Wilson in 1916 did issue a proclamation officially establishing June 14 as Flag Day. Why June 14? The flag of the United States was adopted on that day in 1777 by resolution of the Second Continental Congress.
The American Flag has been worn, burned, drug through the dirt and flown all over the world, and even on the moon. It's inspired art, song and protest. It has seen battles and celebrations and is literally the stuff of legend. If today, or any day, you see an American Flag take a moment to reflect and see how it inspires you.
