Literacy

Does your adult learner want to write better?

Is improving their writing one of your adult learner’s goals? Inspiration 8, an award-winning visual thinking software, is available to you and your learner on all literacy computers! You can easily create visual diagrams to help develop and organize ideas. Add clip art to help enforce the ideas and attach notes for deeper planning and understanding.

Start with the “Learn to Use” training section or just jump in! The familiar interface, similar to Microsoft Word, makes it easy.

Lit Bits Newsletter Update

In an effort to become Earth friendly, the Literacy Office newsletter Lit Bits, which comes to you hot off the presses every 4 months, will now come to you digitally!  Beginning with our next edition in August , we will email copies of Lit Bits to tutors and adult learners who have an email address on file with us.  Tutors and learners who do not have an email address will still receive a  paper copy of the newsletter in the mail.

Instant Poetry!

If your adult learner would like to work on poetry but needs some inspiration, click here. On the left they will see a list of poems; help them choose one and follow the directions, adding words when and where instructed. Click on “Create my ___ poem,” and voila, they'll have an instant poem! This site also gives you an example so you can see what yours will look like. Try it out; it’s a lot of fun!
