In Case of Disaster

Oklahoma is the place to be if you enjoy crazy weather. Did you know that FEMA has emergency tips available in a dozen other languages besides English?

primary tuesday, so early voting starts tomorrow

It's true, Tuesday June 26 is primary day in Oklahoma, meaning early voting will available at the Tulsa County Election Board (555 N. Denver Ave.) on Friday June 22 (8a-6p), Saturday June 23 (8a-1p), and Monday June 25 (8a-6p). Polls will be open 7a-7p on June 26.

Republicans will be deciding or choosing candidates for several races in this primary. The only democratic primary is State Senate District 11. However, all City of Tulsa voters will be deciding a proposition to amend the City Charter for local primary elections and candidate filings to coincide with state elections.

I'd like to start a nonprofit organization, but don't know all of the steps involved. Where can I find help getting it up and running?

The library's Research Center has a wealth of information on starting and operating nonprofits. If you go to our Research & Learn tab on the home page, you'll find a link for the Nonprofit Resource Center in the middle of the list of icons.

An Excellent Resource for Citizenship

The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) and the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of American History (NMAH) recently launched Preparing for the Oath: U.S. History and Civics for Citizenship. You can read and listen to short, interesting civics lessons; after each lesson, there is a related question from the pool of possible citizenship test questions. You can also practice taking the ten-question citizenship test.
