Paper Airplane Challenge Soars Inside Central Library

   Soar into the New Year with the “Paper Airplane Challenge,” Jan. 3, 1-2 p.m. at Central Library, Fourth Street and Denver Avenue.  All ages are welcome at this free family event.

Write Your Way to Cash with Adult Creative Writing Contest

   Wordsmiths take note, you can now enter your snappy sonnets and enlightening essays in the 36th annual Adult Creative Writing contest.  Sponsored by the Friends of the Tulsa City-County Libraries, the contest gives unpublished writers an opportunity to win cash for using their imagination.

   The contest is open to any person 18 years or older who lives, works, attends school in Tulsa County or has a nonresident Tulsa City-County Library card.  The deadline to submit entries is Jan. 31, 2013.

   Submissions of unpublished original text are welcomed in these categories:

New Russian and English Storytimes at Martin Regional Library

   Storytimes build literacy skills and inspire imaginations in young readers.  A new bilingual storytime at Martin Regional Library, 2601 S. Garnett Road, seeks to enhance cultural awareness by reading the same books in two languages.

Rudisill Regional Library Features "A Kwanzaa Community Celebration"

   Since the creation of Kwanzaa in the 1960s, the weeklong event has established itself as an annual celebration of community enrichment.

   Families are invited to “A Kwanzaa Community Celebration” Dec. 26, 6-8 p.m. at the Rudisill Regional Library, 1520 N. Hartford.  This event is sponsored by the Tulsa City-County Library’s African-American Resource Center and the Tulsa Library Trust.
