How do I ...?

writing

It is important for learners to know how to write about and verbally explain a process. Have your learner think of something he or she knows how to do that doesn't require a lot of time or materials (example: Origami, darning a sock, doing a card trick). Talk about the process to help generate the necessary vocabulary and grammatical structures, then ask them to write the process for homework.

·         Send a recording home with your learner for a transcription assignment.

·         Record your learner and immediately play back for pronunciation help.

Remember to update your contact information!

In recent weeks we’ve made calls to about a dozen people with disconnected phone numbers.  If your phone number(s) change, or you obtain a new email address, or even move residences, please remember to update your contact information with the literacy office at 918-549-7400.

In addition, in order to be more green, the Tulsa City-County Library will no longer mail library notifications through the postal system.  Make sure the library has your email address on file and/or a working phone number so that you can continue to receive notifications!
