GED Success

The GED has changed!  

TCCL Librarian Rebecca Howard, Literacy Program Specialist Cleo Berninger, and a representative from the Union Public Schools Adult Education Center will discuss the recent changes to the GED and how to prepare for the test.  This is a FREE class, open to all, no R.S.V.P. required!  You do not have to be a participant in the literacy program to attend. 

When: Thursday, February 13th, 6:00 – 7:30 p.m.

Colorado Libraries for Early Literacy (CLEL) has created an award for high-quality picture books that provide excellent support of early literacy development in young children. Books have been selected in each of five categories: books that promote reading, writing, singing, talking, and playing. These are all ways that parents can share literacy with their children

Best of the First Readers

Theodore Deisel Award

The Geisel Award is given to the best books for those kids just starting to read on their own, sometimes called “First Readers”, “Step Readers”, or “Emergent Readers”. These are books with lots of pictures, simple words, and few words on a page. Most of us know of these from some of Theodore Geisel (Dr. Seuss) books such as “Hop on Pop” and “The Foot Book”.
