I’d like to volunteer at my local library branch. How do I go about that?

The Tulsa library system has hundreds of volunteers, from teenagers to retirees, who help us with our day to day operations, and we are very glad for the time and effort they donate to the library. Volunteers perform a variety of tasks, from shelving books and serving as an After School Homework Club coach to tutoring a Literacy student or adding book and movie reviews to our online catalog.

It May Be Just Dirt Now ...

Between the new parking garage and the library will be the A.R. and Marylouise Tandy Foundation Children's Garden.  This quiet and inviting space will accommodate outdoor programming for all ages.

Focusing on children and families, the library will offer free interactive programs in the garden designed to engage, motivate and inspire participants.  On beautiful days, adults will enjoy programs of books and music, offering fun and educational respite from a busy day.

Happy Families by Cindy Hulsey

In the first sentence of Anna Karenina Tolstoy proclaims, “All happy families are alike; each unhappy family is unhappy in its own way.” Perhaps this explains why most literary novels are about unhappy families. There has to be a conflict in order to keep the reader’s interest.

Oklahoma Launches Destination HUBZone

The Oklahoma Small Business Administration Office will launch Destination: HUB in July to reintroduce Oklahoma Small Businesses to the advantages of HUBZone certification.

For more than 17 years, the HUBZone program has served as one of SBA's signature initiatives and has helped small businesses in urban and rural communities gain preferential access to federal procurement opportunities.

SBA's Destination: HUB will put a spotlight on small businesses and promote HUBZones as ideal places for government contractors to do business.
