How Do I...

Night drops are available at all branch libraries with the exception of the Genealogy Center.

You may return borrowed materials to any Tulsa City-County Library location with the exception of the Genealogy Center.

Books, audiobooks, music CDs, DVDs, videos, and Blu-ray discs have a checkout period of 14 days.  These items may all be renewed up to 100 times for a checkout period totaling one year.

Note that some cards and materials have additional restrictions.

Items that are renewable may be renewed up to 100 times with a checkout period totaling up to one year.  If you attempt to renew an item that has reached the renewal limit, that been reserved by another customer, or whose loan policies do not allow renewal, a message will appear informing you which titles were not renewed and why.

Most items renew for 14 days.  The new due date will be 14 days from the date it is renewed.

In an effort to go green, the library will no longer mail notifications, effective May, 14, 2013. Please add an email address and/or telephone number to your account so that we can provide you notifications regarding your holds and other library information.

  • The automated telephone notification system will alert you when items are ready to be picked up or are overdue.
  • The email notification system will alert you when items are ready to be picked up or are overdue, and if you have outstanding fines or billed items. If you request your notification to be sent by email, you must ensure that your provider allows email from notices@tulsalibrary.org.

To add or update this information:

  1. Visit http://opac.tulsalibrary.org/patroninfo.
  2. Sign in with your library card # and password.
  3. Click the “Modify Info” button.
  4. Choose your notice preference.
  5. Make sure your email address and phone number are up-to-date.

You also may sign up for an account with Library Elf to be notified of what’s due soon, overdue or ready for pickup via email, text message or RSS alerts. This service also lets you track multiple accounts.

There are certain circumstances that will prevent an item form being renewed:

  • There are outstanding fines on your card greater than $10.00
  • The material is long overdue
  • Your card (registration) has expired
  • There is a request for the item by another library customer.

Renewal dates are from the date renewed-not the date the material is due.

Library cards are typically valid for 2 years.

Library cards must be renewed in person. Photo identification and verification of local address are required. If your photo identification does not have your current address we will accept recently postmarked mail to the current address for verification. The library also provides a free postcard that can be mailed to the customer’s current residential address  to be used as verification. Other forms of address verification may be accepted. For further information please contact the Central Circulation Department at 918.549.7444.

Library cards are available for children of any age.
