New Items for Literacy Students and Tutors!

The Literacy Office has both new materials and more copies of popular items! Here are some of the materials we have received recently:

Join the (written) World of Connection

If you have ever received a letter in the mail or a nice holiday greeting you know how nice it feels.

To many people it could be an intimidating prospect to write a letter, send a greeting card or address an envelope. Tutors, this might be a good thing to go over with your adult learner and offer your assistance. The winter holiday season provides the perfect setting to connect with people far (or near) through written communication.

It’s always a good time to write to someone and it does not need to be complicated. To whom will you write?

Congratulations, Elsa!

The Literacy Office wants to extend our congratulations to Elsa Escobar, one of our ESL students. Elsa's recipe for Almond-Spice Christmas Wreath Cookies was a finalist in Cook's Country Magazine! The cookies sound delicious. Way to go, Elsa! You can find Elsa's recipe in the December/January 2015 issue of Cook's Country.

Microsoft Retail Store Grand Opening Festivities

The Tulsa City-County Library just received some exciting news! We have received a technology grant from Microsoft. They are opening a new retail store at Woodland Hills Mall on Thursday, November 20th, and they have asked TCCL to bring library supporters to the event. We will be at the new store from 9-11. Attendees will get MS freebies and to view the opening from a special section.

If you would like to support TCCL at this event, please contact the Literacy Office for more information! We need to know by November 19th
