Bixby Library To Feature New Service Model

Bixby Library, 20 E. Breckenridge, will close for renovations Jan. 11 and reopen Jan. 19. Once reopened, the library will feature New Service Model updates to remain relevant for 21st-century library customers.

During the closure, library customers can pick-up requested holds at Hardesty Regional Library, 8316 E. 93rd St. Online access is available at www.tulsalibrary.org for browsing the library catalog, requesting materials to be delivered to a nearby library location and downloading e-materials in a variety of formats.

New Service Model improvements to the Bixby Library include:

• Self-check machines, which allow customers to oversee their account as they check out and return borrowed items

• New signage for improved way-finding

• Lower shelving to create more open space

• Wi-Fi bar with charging capability for customers using personal digital devices

• Convenience Center for copying, scanning, faxing and wireless printing

• Personal computers with the ability to print in color and black-and-white for a small fee

“We are excited to offer library customers greater access to information and entertainment,” said Carolyn Trammell, Bixby Library manager. “The improvements to the Bixby Library will ensure customers have an easy-to-use library without intensive instruction.”

Library customers can expect popular programming to continue, including Trammell’s monthly book discussions and preschool storytimes every Monday at 11 a.m.
