You know Tulsa City-County Library’s summer reading program is beginning when families line the river’s edge for stories, songs and dancing.
Enjoy “Storytime in the Park,” Thursdays at 10 a.m. on May 31, and June 7, 14 and 21 at the QuikTrip Plaza at River Parks, 41st and Riverside. Snacks, while supplies last, are provided by Whole Foods Market.
Each program features interactive stories, songs and activities encouraging children to develop a love of reading. Bring a blanket or chair to enhance the storytime comfort, then cool off in the splash pad.
Scheduled performances include:
- May 31 – Tommy Terrific’s Wacky Magic: Jazz Pioneer Louis Armstrong
- June 7 – Vaudeville Folk Duo: Jack and Kitty Norton
- June 14 – Music with Charlie Hope
- June 21 – Music with Will Parker
TCCL’s Outreach Services department will have The Imagination Station, funded by the Anne and Henry Zarrow Foundation, on hand to sign up summer reading program readers and check out books. The mobile collection features approximately 1,000 items for all ages. The collection will rotate to complement specific events and festivals. Library cardholders can access digital content in an area set up with Café tables, chairs and iPads.
Storytime in the Park is sponsored by River Parks Authority, Tulsa Library Trust and Friends of the Helmerich Library.
