U.S. Patent and Trademark Officer to explain  resources for entrepreneurs

    Taking your idea from a thumbnail sketch to production and distribution requires more than just passion for invention.

   Learn legalities and how to protect your creations during a two-part presentation of "Patents & Trademarks Explained," at Central Library's Aaronson Auditorium, Fifth Street and Denver Avenue, May 2, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

   Walter Divito, patent examiner and Megan Hoyt, regional outreach officer with the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office, will share resources for inventors, entrepreneurs and businesses from 9 a.m.-noon. Divito and Hoyt will provide an introduction to intellectual property, patent application and federal trademark registration processes. A question-and-answer session will follow their presentation.

   A panel discussion of local experts will follow at from 1:30-4 p.m. Legal aspects of patents, trademarks and copyright, suggestions for navigating the world of intellectual property and available resources at TCCL.
