Database Review: Bookflix

If you haven’t heard of our Bookflix database yet, allow me to fill you in on the wonderful things Bookflix has to offer!

Bookfllix is a database that offers children read-aloud experiences of a variety of books that cover different topics. The best part about Bookflix is that each animated picture book is paired with a juvenile nonfiction title! Bookflix supports family time as caregivers and children can listen to the books together and aids in improving literacy skills. What I like best about Bookflix is how it can introduce juvenile nonfiction in a fun way for children who aren’t so sure about reading nonfiction.

Each book pairing has games and puzzles that children can interact with to stay engaged with the elements of the stories that are being taught. Children can “dive deeper” and find worksheets, more information on a topic, and learn about the authors as well.

Homeschool families can benefit from the “Resources and Tools” tab (in the top right corner) that takes users to the extended Scholastic page of Bookflix resources like lesson plans and even more continuing education!

Users can find the Bookflix database by clicking on the “Research” tab from the Tulsa Library website homepage. Then, scroll down and click on the “Databases” box. From there, users will click on the letter “B” and then scroll down until they see “Bookflix.” (You can also find it at the top of this handy list of our digital collections!) There is no signing up for Bookflix or even creating an account. From the database, users will be prompted to type their last name and their library card number to access Bookflix. That’s it!

I hope you enjoy taking a look at all of the wonderful features of our Bookflix database!
