Happy Birthday, Dolly Parton!
Did you know that it’s been just over one year since Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library launched in Tulsa County? We’ve enrolled nearly 20,000 children in this life-changing program and mailed more than 115,000 books to families living in Tulsa County!
The Imagination Library is a free book-gifting program that mails high-quality, age-appropriate books to children under the age of 5 who live in Tulsa County. Parents and caregivers can sign up at www.tulsalibrary.org/imagination-library.
On January 19, 2024, we celebrated the Imagination Library and Dolly’s 76th birthday at Gathering Place with cake, crafts, and stories. Sarah Davis, Children’s Area Supervisor at Martin Regional Library, led us through an incredible Storytime featuring Dolly’s newest picture book, Billy the Kid Makes It Big! Billy the Kid is an adventurous French bulldog who heads to Nashville to make his dreams of music stardom come true. Billy finds some true friends along the way and learns a valuable lesson about bullying and the importance of sticking up for what is right. The book even includes a special cameo from Miss Dolly Parton herself! If you missed Dolly’s birthday bash, you can check out the recap video here.
Experience the fun of Billy the Kid Makes It Big with your child at home with this free bilingual storytime kit which includes Build A Reader activities for a variety of ages.
Can’t get enough stories about music? Check out these library books that feature the magic of music and song! Sing, dance, stomp, and clap as you and your child explore these toe-tapping books together.
Happy reading!
