You are invited to “Courageous Community Conversations: Leaving Home, The Refugee Experience” on Thursday, Feb. 20 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Hardesty Regional Library, 8316 E. 93rd St.
Courageous Community Conversations is a reading and discussion program designed to give attendees the opportunity to engage in authentic and enlightening dialogue on challenging topics.
The event introduces participants to the rich tapestry of refugees in the Tulsa area. The Ungrateful Refugee by Dina Nayeri is the primary text for discussion, detailing personal accounts and insights into the refugee experience. For those who are more drawn to fiction, Exit West by Mohsin Hamid provides a thought-provoking perspective on similar issues through the lens of magical realism.
Participants are encouraged to join in an eye-opening exchange of ideas as we seek to gain insight into the unique challenges refugees in our community encounter and the strengths they bring.
Sponsored by TCCL and the Tulsa Library Trust with support from YWCA Multicultural Service Center and OSU Center for Public Life.
