American Indian Writers Award
The purpose of the American Indian Writers Award is to give recognition to written contributions of outstanding American Indian authors, poets, journalists, film and stage scriptwriters. Inaugurated in 2001, it is the first and only award given by a public library to honor an American Indian writer.

This FREE event takes place the first Saturday in March.
The purpose of the American Indian Writers Award is to give recognition to written contributions of outstanding American Indian authors, poets, journalists, film and stage scriptwriters. Inaugurated in 2001, it is the first and only award given by a public library to honor an American Indian writer. The award is given in odd-numbered years. Recipients receive a $10,000 cash prize and an engraved crystal trophy which is sponsored by the Maxine and Jack Zarrow Family Foundation and the Tulsa Library Trust.
