Mission
We exist to work for the common good of families in Northwest Tulsa. Our primary goal is to relationally provide resources, services and opportunities for the children and youth in this area so they may overcome the social and economic challenges they face.
The area we serve, the 74127 zip code, or more specifically the neighborhood south of Highway 412, north of the Arkansas river, east of Sand Springs and west of Gilcrease Road, has many challenges.
- Half of the population lives under the Federal Poverty Guideline
- Highest incarceration rate for women in Oklahoma
- Substandard housing
- High crime rate
- 80% of the students Kindergarten through High School are not reading at grade level
- Few businesses or services
- Area qualifies as a food desert by the USDA
In order for children to overcome these challenges by graduating from High School and continuing their education or finding a career path, a comprehensive approach is required. The Common Good’s strategy is to provide relational based initiatives in six essential areas: Education, Career Development, Mentoring and Counseling services, Housing, Advocacy and Sports & Arts programs.
