Travel far and wide without leaving Tulsa! Join the Friends of the Tulsa City-County Libraries for Travels With Tulsans, a lunchtime travelogue series presented by notable community members. This series is held each Wednesday from Jan. 10 through Feb. 28 from 12:10-12:50 p.m. at Rudisill Regional Library, 1520 N. Hartford. Attendees may bring their lunch.
Events in this series include:
- “Cruising the Eastern Mediterranean: Greece, Cyprus and Israel” on Jan. 10. Tara Farrar took in the sights around the Eastern Mediterranean on a weeklong cruise including stops at Athens; the islands of Cyprus, Rhodes, Santorini; and more.
- “Gettysburg, Pennsylvania” on Jan. 17. Geologist and Pennsylvania native Claude Bolze shares insights into the famous Civil War battlefield and surrounding area including the Eisenhower National Historic Site.
- “Kiwi Kulture: Life in New Zealand” on Jan. 24. Former Tulsan Laura Whitehurst will livestream from Wellington, New Zealand, to share her experience living among the Kiwis as an American expat since 2017.
- “Journey to Indonesia” on Jan. 31. Anitra Lavanhar, who traveled to Indonesia for a martial arts retreat, shares the beautiful photography she captured from her time in Bogor and Bali.
- “Colorado River Excursion” on Feb. 7. Intrepid traveler George Moudry takes us on a rugged group rafting excursion through the Grand Canyon down the Colorado River.
- “Beyond Barcelona: Biking the Costa Brava Region of Spain” on Feb. 14. Nancy Bizjack bikes through Spain, including Figueres, home to the Salvador Dali museum; Girona, Game of Thrones filming location; and the beach town of L’Escala.
- “The Dalmatian Coast by Yacht” on Feb. 21. Carli Amersek took in the history, food and beautiful scenery while cruising from Split to Dubrovnik, Croatia, by yacht, with stops at Trogir, Jelsa, Biseovo, Vis, Kocula and Mljet.
- “Trek Through Nambia, Botswana and Zimbabwe” on Feb. 28. Gerald Taron rented a truck and drove from Namibia to Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, passing through the Sossusvlei dunes, Kalahari Desert, Chobe National Park and more.
