Join Tulsa City-County Library (TCCL) for its fifth annual Local Author Conference on Saturday, Nov. 16 from 9:30 a.m.-noon at Central Library, Fifth Street and Denver Avenue.
Adults and teens are invited to a morning of engaging sessions on topics related to writing and publishing. Coffee and bagels will be provided. Sessions include “Reading and Research for Writing Success” led by Kathryn Thomas; “Insights Into the Mystery of Traditional Publishing” led by Casie Bazay; ”Conversation on the Writing Process” led by Julia and Will Thomas; and “Writers and Robots: The Future of Authorship” led by Kelly Stone Gamble.
At noon, the conference will conclude with a Local Author Book Fair. Published authors interested in selling their books during the event can fill out a quick and easy application, available at www.tulsalibrary.org/authorconference.
Kathryn Thomas is the outreach and instruction librarian at The University of Tulsa’s McFarlin Library. In this position, she focuses on connecting students and faculty with library resources while building relationships with community members interested in partnering with McFarlin.
Author Casie Bazay transitioned to professional writing after many years of teaching. With a blog, published articles in an array of magazines and the young-adult novel “Not Our Summer” under her belt, she is now working on her second YA book.
Julia Thomas is the author of the Oklahoma Book Award nominee “For Those Who Are Lost.” Her newest novel, “The Kennedy Girl,” is set to release in January 2025. Her husband is Will Thomas, author of the Barker & Llewelyn Victorian mystery series featuring detective Cyrus Barker and his assistant Thomas Llewelyn. The 16th book in the series, “Season of Death,” will be released in April 2025.
Kelly Stone Gamble is a faculty member at Southeastern Oklahoma State University, where she shares her passion for literature, the humanities and writing with aspiring minds. She is the author of the USA Today bestsellers “They Call Me Crazy,” “Call Me Daddy” and “Call Me Cass.” Her most recent release, “Ragtown,” is a historical fiction novel set during the building of the Hoover Dam.
