Finding the right book for the children in your life is hard! Interests change fast. If the kiddos around you are enjoying a new movie/show, this is a great opportunity to introduce reading as a way to experience that world. The Wild Robot by Peter Brown has captured the interest of kids and tweens alike. Here are a few similar titles for kids who are fans of this award-winning movie.

The Wild Robot is a heartwarming tale of survival and found family. Our robot Roz is marooned on a wild island full of endearing animal characters, obstacles, and opportunities for connection. After an accident, Roz cares for a gosling named Brightbill and learns what it means to be a family. The Wild Robot is a trilogy and continues in The Wild Robot Escapes and The Wild Robot Protects.

For those who enjoy nature and love to see Roz survive against all odds, seek out our Adventure Time Reads similar to The Wild Robot such as A Wolf Called Wander by Rosanne Parry. This book is based on the true story of a wolf cub called OR-7 who was separated from his pack. This cub must journey 1,000 miles across the Pacific Northwest and persevere as he survives against hunger, hunters, and highways. The second book in this duology A Wolf Called Fire was released February 2025 and is perfect for Adventure Time Readers.

For those who love to watch Roz’s relationship grow with Brightbill and her community, seek out our Connector Reads similar to The Wild Robot such as the 2024 Newberry Award Winner, The Eyes & the Impossible by Dave Eggers. This story is told from the perspective of a stray dog that lives in a park with his animal friends. As more humans arrive at the park his whole world changes. This is a story of friendship, freedom, and community. It’s a sure win for Connector Readers.
