Before Tulsa-native Tyler Lockett achieved his goal of playing in the National Football League with the Seattle Seahawks, he dreamed of greatness by reading books about his sporting heroes.
To encourage children to live their dreams and become avid readers, Lockett returns home to present “Sporty Storytime with Tyler Lockett” June 21, 10-11 a.m. in Central Library’s A.R. and Marylouise Tandy Foundation Children’s Garden. Lockett, a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School and Kansas State University, will read a few of his favorite children’s books and talk about the importance of maintaining a strong mental and physical balance.
His visit is part of TCCL’s summer reading program for all ages, which continues through Aug. 4. Readers receive a coupon booklet for free food and entertainment throughout Tulsa County, as well as bonus prizes for completing the program. To sign up, children and teens, newborn to 17, and adults can register at any Tulsa City-County Library or online at www.TulsaLibrary.org/summer.
