In the 20 years since J.K. Rowling first published “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone,” millions of readers have embraced the magical world of muggles, wizards and quidditch.
To celebrate this achievement, you are invited to the “Harry Potter New Year’s Bash: An Evening of Enchantment and Merrymaking” on Jan. 6, 5-7:30 p.m. in Central Library’s Pocahontas Greadington Learning & Creativity Center, Fifth Street and Denver Avenue. All ages will enjoy an evening of Hogwarts hijinks, activities and dancing. And while supplies last, revelers can enjoy snacks like butter beer popcorn, cookies and chocolate frogs.
Family activities include:
· Costume Contest
· Wand making (Ollivander’s)
· Daily Prophet Photo Booth
· Wizard Band
· Sorting Hat
· Scarf Making
· Trivia Booth
The Tulsa Zoo will present “Care of Magical Creatures” with owls during a pre-show 4-4:45 p.m. Seating is limited to the first 50 people to arrive.
You also can check out all things J.K. Rowling and Harry Potter from a display of library materials.
