Readers are invited to celebrate a fantastic first year of success at the renovated Central Library, Fifth Street and Denver Avenue, Oct. 1, 1-5 p.m.
Enjoy a classic birthday-themed celebration, complete with a balloon artist, magic shows, face painting and more fun activities for the whole family. At 2 p.m. in the A.R. and Marylouise Tandy Children’s Garden, everyone can enjoy birthday cake and join in a happy birthday sing-along. Lucky readers will also have the chance at winning prizes and giveaways throughout the day.
Since opening in October 2016, Central Library has been as popular as a new best-selling book. Daily library customer counts average nearly 2,000 per day as visitors continue to explore and use services like the maker space, digital literacy lab and scenic study rooms overlooking downtown Tulsa.
“Almost daily I hear a customer compliment of how they enjoy the added technology, study spaces and definitely the addition of Starbucks,” said Buddy Ingalls, Central Library manager. “One of the biggest rewards of the renovation is seeing the number of families visiting the library on a regular basis for storytimes, programming in the children’s garden, and to explore the bright and colorful children’s area.”
Central Library’s first birthday is a great opportunity to tour the library, sign up for a library card and see demonstrations of the newest technology. For more information, call the AskUs Hotline, 918-549-7323, or visit the library’s website, www.tulsalibrary.org.
