Spend an enjoyable evening after hours in the library with three favorite authors while helping raise money and awareness for Tulsa City-County Library’s Ruth G. Hardman Adult Literacy Service.
In conjunction with National Literacy Awareness Month, Tulsa City-County Library and the Tulsa Library Trust are offering “Chapters: A Casual Evening of Books, Bards and Bites” on Thursday, Sept. 7 at 6:30 p.m. at the Hardesty Regional Library, 8316 E. 93rd St. The cost is $50 per person. Deadline for reservations is Aug. 31.
Attendees will get to enjoy food and wine from some of the area’s favorite restaurants while listening to authors Jennifer Latham, David Leite and Julia Thomas.
Latham published her first novel, a young adult mystery called “Scarlett Under Cover,” in 2015. In February 2017, she published “Dreamland Burning,” a carefully researched and sensitively written novel about the Tulsa Race Riot. Latham lives in Tulsa.
Leite is a memoirist, cookbook author, food writer and publisher of the James Beard Award-winning website Leite’s Culinaria. His newest book, “Notes on a Banana: A Memoir of Food, Love, and Manic Depression,” was published in April 2017. His first book, “The New Portuguese Table,” won the 2010 IACP Julia Child Award, as well as garnering other distinctions. Leite is a frequent television guest, and a correspondent and guest host for National Public Radio’s “The Splendid Table.”
Thomas is a graduate of Northeastern State University and an educator. She published her first novel, a standalone British mystery called “The English Boys,” in 2016. Her second novel, “Penhale Wood,” was published in July 2017. She lives in Broken Arrow with her husband, Will Thomas, author of the Barker and Llewelyn mystery series.
