Before Bixby native Chris Harris Jr. achieved his dream of playing in the National Football League and winning a Super Bowl with the Denver Broncos, he dreamed of greatness by reading books about his sporting heroes.
To encourage children to live their dreams and become avid readers, Harris Jr. returns to his hometown library in Bixby, 20 E. Breckenridge, to present “Sports Storytime with Denver Broncos Cornerback Chris Harris Jr.” June 19, 10-11 a.m. He will read a few of his favorite children’s books and talk about the importance of maintaining a strong mental and physical balance. Participants will receive a free glossy photo of Harris Jr., however his schedule does not permit autographs.
He also is supporting the summer reading program through the Chris Harris Jr. Foundation by providing prizes like Kindles, Nike backpacks and gift cards, for an end-of-summer drawing for children and teens completing the program.
TCCL’s summer reading program is for children, teens and adults and continues until Aug. 5. Readers completing the program receive a coupon booklet for free food and entertainment throughout Tulsa County. To sign up, children and teens, newborn to 17, and adults can register at any Tulsa City-County Library or online at www.TulsaLibrary.org/summer.
