Storytime in the Park is Perfect for Families

You know Tulsa City-County Library’s children’s summer reading program is beginning when families line the river’s edge for stories and songs.

Enjoy “Storytime in the Park,” Thursdays at 10 a.m. on May 28; June 4, 11, 18 and 25 at the QuikTrip Plaza at River Parks, 41st and Riverside.

Each program features interactive stories, songs and activities encouraging children to develop a love of reading.  Bring a blanket or chair to enhance the storytime comfort.

   Scheduled performances include:

  • May 28 – Tommy Terrific’s Magical Superheroes
  • June 4 – Indiana Bones, “Keeper of the Legends”
  • June 11 – Lucky Diaz & The Family Jam Band
  • June 18 – Steve Weeks Music
  • June 25 – Balloons, Juggling and Fun with Dustin Reudelhuber

The Imagination Station, funded by the Anne and Henry Zarrow Foundation, is the latest addition to TCCL’s Outreach Services department.  Patterned after the successful Penguin Book Truck, the mobile collection features approximately 1,000 items for all ages. The collection will rotate to complement specific events and festivals.  Library cardholders can access digital content in an area set up with Café tables, chairs and iPads.

After each storytime, children can sign up for the summer reading program.  By reading eight books, children will complete the program and earn a medal of achievement and a booklet of coupons for free entertainment and food items.  Plus, they will be entered in an end-of-summer drawing for exciting prizes.

Storytime in the Park is sponsored by River Parks Authority and Friends of the Helmerich Library.  In case of inclement weather, check the library’s website, www.tulsalibrary.org for any cancellations or call the AskUs Hotline, 918-549-7323.
