Celebrate and learn about the customs and traditions of Asian-Americans with entertaining, educational events for the entire family as Tulsa City-County Library presents the 13th annual Asian-American Festival from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 6 at the Martin Regional Library, 2601 S. Garnett Road.
Explore the colorful cultures of Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Vietnam and other countries in Asia. The festival is sponsored and funded by the Tulsa Library Trust with special assistance from the Tulsa City-County Library Staff Association, The Mary K. Chapman Foundation, George Kaiser Family Foundation, Nam Hai Oriental Supermarket, Mazzio’s Italian Eatery, Panera Bread, Reasor’s, Tulsa Global Alliance and Tulsa Shriners. Admission to the festival is free.
The festival kicks off at 10:45 a.m. with a traditional Chinese dragon dance. The festival also features martial arts demonstrations and an interactive tai chi presentation; Kamishibai storytelling; traditional Japanese drumming and tea ceremony; traditional Indonesian, Korean and Indian dances; authentic arts and crafts booths; kite-flying demonstrations; interactive educational booths featuring hands-on crafts and activities for kids; cosplay and traditional dress contests; plus a food concession with traditional Asian cuisine provided by India Palace and Yum Yum Eggrolls Food Truck (Hmong).
