Celebrate National Bookmobile Day with Tulsa City-County Library

The wheels on the bookmobile go ‘round and ‘round, providing library resources to those who cannot travel to their community library.

April 12 is National Bookmobile Day, which celebrates the more than 900 bookmobiles providing vital services throughout the United States.

Tulsa City-County Library unveiled a new bookmobile last November which was made possible with a donation from Ruth Nelson, a longtime supporter of literacy and libraries. The colorful vehicle features Wi-Fi, holds up to 3,000 library items and has a mobile stage to offer programming at stops. The library’s Outreach Services department makes nearly 50 visits to area assisted living communities and family housing complexes each month.

You can see the bookmobile in action on National Bookmobile Day at these stops:

·         Zarrow Manor, 2025 E 71st Street - 10-10:50 a.m.

·         University Village, 8555 S Lewis – 11:15 a.m.-12:05p.m.
