Spend an enjoyable evening after hours in the library with three favorite authors while helping raise money and awareness for Tulsa City-County Library’s Ruth G. Hardman Adult Literacy Service.
In conjunction with National Literacy Awareness Month, Tulsa City-County Library and the Tulsa Library Trust are offering “Chapters: A Casual Evening of Books, Bards and Bites” on Friday, Sept. 7 at 6:30 p.m. at the Hardesty Regional Library, 8316 E. 93rd St. The cost is $50 per person. Deadline for reservations is Aug. 31.
Attendees will get to enjoy food and wine from some of the area’s favorite restaurants while listening to authors Laura Lippman, Clifton Taulbert and Eilis O’Neal.
Lippman is the author of 18 mysteries. She was a reporter for 20 years, including 12 years at The (Baltimore) Sun. She began writing novels while working full time and published seven books about “accidental PI” Tess Monaghan before leaving daily journalism in 2001. She has received the Edgar, The Anthony, The Agatha, The Shamus, The Nero Wolfe, Gumshoe and Barry awards for her novels.
Taulbert is the author of more than a dozen books, including “Once Upon a Time When We Were Colored,” the Pulitzer Prize-nominated “The Last Train North,” as well as the award-winning “Eight Habits of the Heart: Embracing the Values That Build Strong Communities,” which garnered him an invitation from former Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor to speak to her peers. Taulbert is the founder and president of the Building Community Institute, a human capital development company.
O’Neal is the author of “The False Princess,” a writer of short fantasy titles and the managing editor of the literary magazine Nimrod International Journal. She started writing at the age of 3 (though the story was only four sentences long). Her short fantasy titles have been published in various print and online journals.
