Families Invited to Back-to-School Community Resource Fair

Tulsa City-County Library and the Coalition of Hispanic Organizations are partnering to present the “Back-to-School Community Resource Fair” Aug. 18, 10-11:30 a.m. at Martin Regional Library, 2601 S. Garnett Road. The first 200 children will receive free school supplies. This free come-and-go event will feature more than 35 local organizations helping to make sure students are ready to begin the new school year by offering beneficial services and resources. Partnering organizations will provide information on their services as well as: • Free immunizations • Free haircut coupons • Free dental screenings • Free eye screenings Parents and guardians also can get information on how Tulsa City-County Library can provide free homework assistance through two library services. Homework Help Now! – Receive live online tutoring from certified tutors, 2-11 p.m., CST, at your home, school or library seven days a week. Subject help is available with math, English, writing, science, social studies, reading comprehension, English Literature and Spanish. All sessions may be conducted in Spanish or English. The one-on-one homework assistance helps students better understand school courses. Third- through eighth-grade students can schedule 30-minute sessions, each afternoon Monday-Thursday, beginning mid-September.
