Great Decisions Discussion Series Addresses Global Challenges

The annual Great Decisions Discussion series explores how remote global challenges are increasingly impacting our communities.

Russell Hanks will open the series with a keynote address Sunday, Jan. 22, 2:30 p.m., in Central Library’s Aaronson Auditorium, Fifth Street and Denver Avenue.  The program is free and open to the public.

Hanks has filled leadership roles in the Foreign Service for more than 25 years.  His work across the interagency spectrum, including NATO facilities and U.S., European and African commands, involved coordinating development, security and strategic communications teams for a variety of agencies.

Participants are invited to join a discussion group focusing on any of this year’s featured topics.  Discussion books with information on each of the topics are available for optional purchase. Topics are:

·         The Future of Europe

·         Trade and Politics

·         Conflict in the South China Sea

·         Saudi Arabia in Transition

·         U.S. Foreign Policy and Petroleum

·         Latin America's Political Pendulum

·         Prospects for Afghanistan and Pakistan

·         Nuclear Security

Great Decisions is sponsored nationally by the Foreign Policy Association and locally by the Friends of the Tulsa City-County Libraries.  The goal of the program is to serve as a catalyst for developing awareness and understanding of global issues.
