Join Tulsa Master Gardeners at Central Library  for green thumb tips

   Just in time for spring, learn to grow vegetable gardens, fruit trees and beautiful flowers during the Tulsa Master Gardeners Lunch and Learn series.

   This free series is presented Tuesdays, March 20 - April 24, 12:10-12:50 p.m. at Central Library, Fifth Street and Denver Avenue. Participants can bring a lunch and learn helpful tips from local experts.

   Topics each week include:

·         March 20 – Container Gardening: Vegetables

·         March 27 – Seed Saving: Keeping it Really Local

·         April 3 – Tomatoes: Easy Varieties for Delicious Success

·         April 10 – Annuals and Perennials for Shade

·         April 17 – Growing Herbs and Vegetables

·         April 24 – Fruit Tree Success, Even in Oklahoma

   To help grow more green thumbs and encourage healthier lifestyles, TCCL offers the Seed Library. Customers can check out up to five packets of vegetable, herb or flower seeds per season that are best adapted for our area. If the plants are successful, growers are encouraged to let the best plants go to seed. Then they can the collect, dry, label and return the seeds to the library so the cycle will continue the following year.

   Seed Library locations include these Tulsa City-County Libraries as well as the Bookmobile:

This webpage features a comprehensive listing of all seeds ready for check out, along with planting instructions, seed saving basics and care. You can even check out a packet online and have it delivered to your community library.
