Join Tulsa City-County Library’s Hispanic Resource Center to watch three episodes of PBS’ “Latino Americans,” the first major documentary series highlighting the rich, varied history and experiences of Latinos.
The films are presented at the Martin Regional Library, 2601 S. Garnett Road, in Spanish with English subtitles. Each showing is free and open to ages 16 and older.
- March 13, 6-7 p.m. Part 1 - “Foreigners in Their Own Land”
- March 20, 6-7 p.m. Part 2 - “The Empire of Dreams”
- March 27, 6-7 p.m. Part 3 - “War and Peace”
“The PBS documentary is the first series about the history Latinos in the U.S.,” said Sara Martinez, TCCL’s Hispanic Resource Center coordinator. “We invite the community to view this important film series during the month of Cesar Chavez’s birthday as an opportunity to appreciate the fascinating panorama of Latino history in the U.S.”
Produced with support from the National Endowment for the Humanities, “Latino Americans” features interviews with nearly 100 Latinos documenting more than 500 years of history. As the largest minority group in the U.S., with more than 50 million people, Latinos represent a central part in the evolution of the U.S.
