Tulsa Shock, a presenting sponsor for Tulsa City-County Library’s children’s and teen summer reading programs, will take a timeout from the hard court for a storytime in the book stacks.
Storytime with the Tulsa Shock will tip off July 28, 3 p.m., at Rudisill Regional Library, 1520 N. Hartford. Readers will share their favorite children’s books, and talk about the importance of maintaining a strong mental and physical balance. Scheduled to appear are:
- TIFFANY JACKSON-JONES
- JENNIFER LACY
- GLORY JOHNSON
- JORDAN HOOPER
- THERESA PLAISANCE
- ODYSSEY SIMS
- SKYLAR DIGGINS
- BRIDGET PETTIS (ASST. COACH)
Their visit is part of Tulsa City-Count Library’s children’s and teen summer reading programs. Children and teens have until Aug. 2 to complete the program to receive a coupon booklet for free good and entertainment throughout Tulsa County. One of the earned prizes is a free ticket to see the Tulsa Shock play the San Antonio Silver Stars on Aug. 8, 7 p.m., at the BOK Center.
“It’s important for children to see professional athletes and celebrities taking time to enjoy reading,” said Cher Lyons, Rudisill Regional Library’s children’s librarian. “The Tulsa Shock organization has been wonderful in supporting literacy and libraries. I think the players who have come to read in libraries enjoy it as much as the children do.”
