   “Write every day.”    That is the advice any award-winning author gives to aspiring writers. The continuous practice helps build essential storytelling skills and establishes a daily routine to fuel creativity.    TCCL’s annual Young People’s Creative Writing contest provides an opportunity for authors to express and exercise their imagination. Celebrate Kwanzaa at Rudisill Regional Library

   Since the creation of Kwanzaa in the 1960s, the weeklong event has established itself as an annual celebration of community enrichment.    Families are invited to “A Kwanzaa Community-Wide Celebration” Dec. 26, 6 p.m. at Rudisill Regional Library, 1520 N. Hartford.  Youth ages 18 and younger will receive a free book at the program as an important reminder of the value of the written word.

   Tulsa City-County Library and OU Physicians-Tulsa continue their partnership to raise awareness about important health topics through a speaker’s series called the Tulsa Health Literacy Project.     The next free program is “Palliative Care and Hospice: An Overview for the Health-Care Consumer,” Nov. 16, 6-7:30 p.m. in Central Library’s Aaronson Auditorium, Fifth Street and Denver Avenue.

Improved Skiatook Library to reopen Nov. 16

You are invited to find your new favorite reading nook as Skiatook Library, 316 E. Rogers, reopens Nov. 16 with a new look and greater access to informational and educational resources.   The Skiatook Library is improving to meet the needs of modern library customers. The circulation desk was removed to make room for additional self-check machines. Customers can check in or out materials, pay fines, view account information, renew items and get receipts for any of these services. This allows library staff more time to help customers find information they need.

Rudisill Regional Library presents holiday bazaar and open house

Begin your holiday season with the first ever “Open House & Taste of North Tulsa Holiday and Resource Bazaar” at Rudisill Regional Library, 1520 N. Hartford, Nov. 5, 1-4 p.m.    Do your holiday shopping from a large group of local vendors featuring handmade and one-of-a-kind items. For a small fee, you can taste holiday recipes prepared by North Tulsa caterers. There will also be resource tables with information about free services from community organizations.
