TCCL welcomes Santa to Storytimes

It’s the most wonderful time of the year when Santa visits a library near you.    Families have several opportunities to meet Santa and enjoy holiday songs, stories and crafts. England's Dame Hilary Mantel coming to Tulsa to receive 2018 Helmerich award

   TULSA, Okla. --- England’s two-time Man Booker Prize-winning historical novelist Dame Hilary Mantel is coming to Tulsa Dec. 7 and 8 to receive the 2018 Peggy V. Helmerich Distinguished Author Award.

Rita Williams-Garcia to receive the 2019 Anne V. Zarrow Award for Young Readers’ Literature

New York Times best-selling author Rita Williams-Garcia is the winner of the Tulsa Library Trust’s 2019 Anne V. Zarrow Award for Young Readers’ Literature.     She will accept the award at a public presentation at Hardesty Regional Library’s Connor’s Cove, 8316 E. 93rd St., Friday, May 3, at 7 p.m.  She also will present awards to winners of the 2019 Young People’s Creative Writing Contest at the ceremony.

TCCL to honor award-winning poet and author Laura Tohe with Festival of Words Writers Award

Laura Tohe (Diné, Tsénahabiłnii, Sleepy Rock People clan, and born for the Tódich’inii, Bitter Water clan) will receive the Tulsa Library Trust’s “Festival of Words Writers Award” March 2, 10:30 a.m., at Hardesty Regional Library’s Connor’s Cove, 8316 E. 93rd St.  Her award presentation will be followed by a book signing and a day of educational American Indian family events from 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.

Books to Treasure illustrator to share her talents with families

All memorable children’s books feature original art that is filled with colors and depth to draw readers of any age into the magical world of words.    To celebrate the vibrant work of illustrators, Tulsa City-County Library presents the 16th annual “Books to Treasure,” promoting the beauty of children’s literature and introducing the community to popular book illustrators.
