Summer Reading Program Features "Summer Movies @ Circle Cinema"

   Readers and movie lovers are invited to beat the July heat by taking the fun indoors for free “Summer Movies @ Circle Cinema.”    As part of Tulsa City-County Library’s summer reading program, enjoy a family-friendly movie at Circle Cinema, 10 S. Lewis, each Tuesday in July beginning at 1 p.m., in the 225 seat theater.  There also will be accommodations for overflow seating.  Children have the choice of receiving a free popcorn, drink or candy bar.  Seating is limited.  Call 918-549-7584 for movie titles featured July 5, 12, 19 and 26.

Tulsa City-County Library Presents Marcus R. Tower Service Award and Honors Volunteers

You can call Tulsa City-County Library volunteers the binding that holds the library story together.    This dedicated group of nearly 1,000 book lovers was honored at the 42nd annual Hearts and Flowers Volunteer Recognition Awards held at Martin Regional Library, 2601 S. Garnett Road.  Combined, volunteers donated nearly 40,000 hours in 2015-16.

Children, teens and adults are encouraged to keep the pages turning with the 2016 Summer Reading Program.    The free annual program is ongoing May 31-Aug. 6.  To sign up, children and teens, ages newborn to 17, and adults can register at any Tulsa City-County Library or online at www.TulsaLibrary.org/summer – no library card required!     Sign up by June 30 and be entered in a drawing for a family four pack of OKC Thunder family tickets for their Oct. 13 exhibition game at Tulsa’s BOK Center.

Two New York Times Best-Selling Authors to Visit Hardesty Regional Library

   Meet contemporary romance author Lori Wilde and historical romance author Lorraine Heath as they discuss their award-winning novels, May 15, 2-3 p.m., at Hardesty Regional Library, 8316 E. 93rd St.    Both authors will speak and answer question about their careers.  A book signing will follow the program and their books will be available for purchase from Barnes & Noble.  Refreshments will be served.

Meet Best-Selling Author Gordon Korman

   New York Times best-selling author Gordon Korman is the winner of the Tulsa Library Trust’s 2016 Anne V. Zarrow Award for Young Readers’ Literature.  He will accept the award at a public presentation at Hardesty Regional Library’s Connor’s Cove, 8316 E. 93rd St., Friday, May 6, at 7 p.m.  He also will present awards to winners of the 2016 Young People’s Creative Writing Contest awards at the ceremony.

Poll: Oklahomans overwhelmingly believe state should continue its portion of funding for state's libraries

An overwhelming 89.5 percent of Oklahoma likely voters believes library services are important to their communities and a nearly equal number (87.5 percent) felt that they and their family members, or others that they know of, get good value from their local library, according to SoonerPoll's Quarterly Poll.
