Central Library Celebrates 100,000th Checkout

   Since opening in October 2016, Tulsa City-County Library’s Central Library, Fifth Street and Denver Avenue, has been as popular as a new best-selling book.    With a daily traffic count of more than 1,500 people, a steady flow of customers are exploring new library features like the maker space, digital learning lab and scenic study rooms overlooking downtown Tulsa.    Just as different technologies and new features are popular at Central Library, so too are printed books.

Get Your Social Security Questions Answered During a Series of Free Library Events

   Gwen Latus from the Social Security Administration will visit five Tulsa City-County Library locations to help you create and explore your MySSA.  This free program is open to teens and adults.    The new and improved service from the Social Security Administration provides detailed information about retirement, disability, Medicare, Supplemental Security Income applications and appeals.  You only can create an account using your own personal information and for your own exclusive use.

Celebrate Our Nation’s First President During An Evening With George Washington

   During the first State of the Union address delivered in 1790, President George Washington was optimistic “in the pleasing and arduous task of ensuring to our fellow Citizens the blessings, which they have a right to expect, from a free, efficient and equal Government.”    All ages are invited to spend “An Evening With George Washington” on Wednesday, Feb. 1, 7-8:30 p.m. in Central Library’s Aaronson Auditorium, Fifth Street and Denver Avenue.  The program, presented by Mount Vernon and Tulsa City-County Library, is free and open to the public.
